Hope Orphanage, Ilorin

HOI Hope Orphanage, Ilorin

While on a missionary trip to Lagos, Nigeria between March and April 2010, with some colleagues from Berean Believers Conference in support of project 5Loaves 2Fishes, the opportunity came for us to visit Ilorin Kwara state where we met the wonderful children at Hope Orphanage Ilorin. The community where these children came from needed help and this was obvious by each story told to us by Pastor Isaac Omolehin, the General Superintendent of the Word Commission International and Senior Pastor, The Word Assembly who also took us round the community so that we may actually understand (I will put up some pictures soon and hopefully tell the story of our visit).

We have assisted Hope Orphanage Ilorin in creating their own website, so that those supporting will follow the progress of the children. Click here to visit the site and see below for a brief of the current needs at Hope Orphanage Ilorin.

The Children

We seek sponsors for the children at Hope Orphanage Ilorin, Nigeria. After visiting HOI in April 2010, there is a lot to achieve because it was founded by need as children were being picked after they have been abandoned and a lot is needed to support this orphanage home.

With 11 children at the moment, living in a two (2) rooms, we will need your support to sponsor the running of this orphanage. Apart from sponsoring a child, we can also support the care takers expenses as they really need encouragement in a location where there is very little or no financial support.

To sponsor a child, we have been advised that besides clothing, shoes and other running costs, an average of USD 2.00 will feed a child per day. This makes feeding sponsor just USD 8.00 per month. Once a child has been selected for sponsor, the same child will no longer be available for sponsor and all other funds will go to the up keep of the orphanage home.

If you sponsor a child, we can arrange for you to visit them on one of our quarterly or yearly visits, please contact us to discuss further. You will also get updates on the children, including pictures just to encourage you as well. We pray that the Lord will bless you as you support the needy.

The Home

All the 11 children in Hope Orphanage Ilorin reside in just two (2) rooms sharing a space that is very limited. It’s our prayer and hope that we will work with this orphanage to build or expand the current residence in order to allow proper ventilated accommodation and enough space for the children to play around. We also anticipate that the orphanage will increase the number of children they currently take care of as the proprietors have had to turn back children in the past, something they heavily regretted and vouch not to repeat.

    Dear Pastor Olaniyi,

I would like to thank EAG for the contribution and support of the Hope Orphanage Children, Ilorin. We confirm receipt of 119,000 Naira on the 5th of Oct 2010 sent by you in support of our work and mission to contribute to the life of each child we have in the orphanage.

Your funds have been of great help as we are able to pay for School Fees, Uniform, Books for the Children, also for an additional 18 children who do not reside in the orphanage but are being funded through school as they would have otherwise never gone through the Educational system.

    Children Update:
The Children are doing well and six are in Nursery and Primary Schools.
We have taken in two more infants since your last visit in April 2010
There are other five children in the waiting whom we could not take in for lack of accommodation because the available two rooms are filled to capacity.

We thank you once again and look forward to hearing from you

Please pray for us as the Lord leads you

    Yours Sincerely

    Dr Mrs Christie Omolehin
    Director Hope Orphanage
