Runing to Win

Start The Race 200x300 Runing to WinHosting a T.E.A. (Talk, Examine, Apply) Party last Saturday, a few lady friends and I hung out over some niblets with a purpose of discussing life from a biblical point of view. We zoomed in on the different races that we run or about to run and how we can apply ourselves to finish well.  The base of our discussion was anchored from the book of Hebrews chapter 12 where the writer encourages us about runing a race with patience and perseverance. He also warns us of distractions, weights and parasitic sins that can cause a diversion to the completion of the races that we run.

We understood from our discussion and share of knowledge  that our race would first need some understanding of what it is about, the length or how long it will take, what position we are to take in order to run our races well and to the finish, any benefactors and most importantly, what our maker, our heavenly Fsther is saying about the race we are to run or runing.

An analogy of an athelete illuminated our understanding in the sense that we came to see that a person who trains in order to run a race has one focus in his mind, and that’s to win the gold medal. He ensures the best coach is his trainer, avoids certain habits, activities and diet that may affect his position in attaining his gold medal.Though he can see and hear the crowd cheering, his mind isn’t tuned to the noise around but focused on the finish line.

The Message bible encourages us more in the study of Hebrews 12 and we realised that Jesus Christ is an ultimate example of  one who ran his race with all his focus on the prize despite the humiliation, shame and pain, he ran the race of the cross so we can be set free and stay free, and now is sitted on his throne.

We need to take the race of faith and our life seriously with one focus only; to win. Remember, a crowd of witnesses in Hebrews 11 have ran the race as our example, Jesus Christ did the same and bore more than we can ever bear and has now given us the will to run, will you run your race to the finish?

Evaluate your race by attempting these few questions based on Hebrews 12,search and apply the scriptures as you do.

Starting Well should encourage you.
